Heather Mansfield - Glass Artist

After working almost 20 years as a biologist developing and implementing wildlife conservation plans, I needed a new outlet for working with the beauty of nature.  With much trial and error over the last four years, I taught myself how to create fused glass art—jewelry, plates, bowls, vases, clocks, and decorative tiles—out  of my home workshop. While my glass designs are diverse, they often highlight my love of wildlife.

My change to a career in glass art began after I developed multiple sclerosis (MS), a degenerative disease of the central nervous system that can severely reduce mobility.  Much of my art highlights animals or earthly elements (i.e., fire and water) in motion, powerful symbols of the fight to keep moving.  All profits or commissions from my glass sales are donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, through my yearly participation in their signature fundraiser, the MSWalk. MSWalk donations help fund research to cure MS and programs that benefit those living with the disease.
